A chocolate paradise in the middle of Vienna - Bonbon et Chocolat

UPDATE December 2017

At the moment the beautiful shop is closed - like Sleeping Beauty it is waiting to be kissed awake again at some point in time ... and Laure herself is on a personal voyage of discovery. But sometime in the future she will be back to making heavenly delicious chocolate.....

Bonbon et Chocolat, the name of the store alone is sure to make the hearts for all with a sweet tooth beat faster. But as soon as you discover what small, sweet paradise is hidden there, you will feel like in the 7th chocolate heaven. My today's secret tip brings you to Laure Doutreleau and the smallest chocolate factory in the world.

Laure is looking forward to spoil you with her fine chocolate creations (and fruity creations).

But now I let her speak herself, because her passion for chocolate can be felt everywhere.

Shortly introduce your product…

At Bonbon et Chocolat you will find unique and fine chocolate creations with a French touch. Extraordinary chocolates and chocolate figures are lovingly hand-made from selected regional as well as organic and fairtrade ingredients.

What is so special about your product?

My creations are not only a unique, unmistakable pleasure and made by hand, but also sustainability and ethical correctness for the ingredients are top priority.

So my products combine two things: organic and Fairtrade on principle and fun at handmade!

The professional and gentle processing methods bring out the exquisite quality of the ingredients. And through the great selection everyone will find ist personal favourite. Whether big or small, vegans or even fruit lovers - there is something for everyone.

How did you get the idea to make exactly this product?

I admit, I am a sweet tooth! My natural curiosity has already brought me weired ideas. And so one day I wondered what it would be like making my own chocolate? Said and done: but that was just the beginning.

Why did you choose Vienna as location?

Vienna defintely needs more good chocolate. Really good one! Not "fine chocolate" made of truffle hollow ball with Callebaut chocolate.

The decisive reason, however, why I chose Vienna as a location is because I live here. The charm of this city has convinced me from the beginning.

Is there something special abou the location of your company?

It is the smallest chocolate factory in the world!

Please tell us more about the history of your company …

I have given up my profession as a French teacher to complete a chocolate confectioner training in France. Back in Vienna, I also took the confectioner's master's examination to be able to produce my chocolate creations as I wish.

3 words that descibe your company …

Handmade, french, natural

Where to buy your products?

Open all year round in Bonbon et Chocolat, Gumpendorferstrasse 88a, in the 6th district.

Why I like living in Vienna ...

Vienna is a cozy city with lots of green as well as lots of travel possibilities, as it is geographically very central. Austria is a country with many offers and open doors, which I like very much.

What do you like about the city?

You can stay in Vienna and also live your wanderlust: I have been living in Vienna for many years and still there is always something to discover. This makes the city simply exciting!

My personal Vienna tip …

A visit to the tropical butterfly house in the winter, when the weather is gray and cold and then enjoy a "coffee cake" in the palm house

My favorite place in Vienna ...

Karlsplatz and its variety

My favorite restaurant in Vienna ...

Bonbon et Chocolat of course! I make the best hot chocolate in the city!
