A day trip from Vienna to ... Bratislava

Vienna has a lot to offer and the list of activities is endlessly long. But not only Vienna, but also the surrounding area is worth exploring, because there is quite a lot to discover.

Therefore I start today a new series of blog articles where I will introduce you beautiful excursions which you can make comfortably in one day from Vienna.

Have you been to Bratislava?

The beginning now makes Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, which is perfect for a day trip. And this trip is something special because you can go there even by ship. But more about that a bit later.

Bratislava is approximately 80km away from Vienna and is also located on the Danube. Highlights of the city are the charming old town with its numerous street cafes, restaurants, historic buildings, museums, galleries and the castle the landmark of Bratislava, perched high above the city on a hill.

Also culturally the city has much to offer and the theater and the opera are known far beyond the city borders.

This and much more that awaits you in Bratislava you find on the website of the Bratislava Tourist Board "Visit Bratislava".

Do you now got the desire exploring Bratislava? Then the question arises, how the best get there?

I have already told you that even the journey can be an experience itself, namely, if you go directly with the boat.

Directly from Vienna’s city center, from Schwedenplatz, the Twin City Liner, a hydrofoil, takes you to Bratislava. Tickets and travel times can be found on the website www.twincityliner.com

If you prefer to travel by train, then there is a special offer by the ÖBB called "Bratislava Ticket".

Very comfortable is also by bus. Here Flixbus offers you all day direct connections. Just look on the website for the departure times. The ride itself takes approximately 1 hour to 1.5 hours.

And with the car it only takes you about an hour to the capital of Slovakia. For the quickest way from your apartment just ask your host.

All from one hand

Bratislava authentically and from a whole new perspective you can experience with the tours of Brano, Juro and Peter which you find and book on Vienna with Locals.

Do you wish to leave the planning and organization of your trip to Bratislava to specialists then I recommend you the two tours of the Vienna Sightseeing Tours.

Here you have the possibility to either go to Bratislava by bus or bus and boat and get an exciting tour through the city. So sit back and enjoy the trip. The tours you can comfortably book online.

No matter how you decide, Bratislava is really worth a visit and you can make the city trip comfortably in one day.
