Family Feichtinger - imperial flair in Bad Ischl

This time I introduce you to an extraordinary family business - Family Feichtinger and their lovely Heritage Boutique Apartments in the heart of the imperial city of Bad Ischl. Be inspired for your next vacation in the Salzkammergut. Monika Feichtinger tells you more about their unique family business.

Who we are

You are visiting a young family business consisting of me, Monika, and my children Martha and Kamal. I am a former teacher, Kamal works in the restaurant business, and Martha lives in Vienna but always likes to visit. Together we are there for you. We travel a lot ourselves and feel at home in the world.

With this heartfelt project - Heritage Boutique Apartments - we would like to allow you to get to know Bad Ischl and the Salzkammergut from its most beautiful sides and to fall in love with the region.

Where were you born?

Monika and Martha in Austria, Kamal in Afghanistan.

What is unique about your business? What do you like about it? How did you come to this?

Since we are in the imperial city of Bad Ischl, the idea of furnishing the holiday apartments with historical flair occurred to us. Like so much in life, it came about by chance. We discovered a beautiful city villa in the center of Bad Ischl and decided to take this chance together. "Time travel instead of world travel," as our motto came about.

Due to Monika's preference for antiques, Kamal's experience in tourism, and Martha's background in the field of sustainability, we quickly decided to offer luxurious yet socially and ecologically compatible apartments for an exceptional stay in the Salzkammergut. Our furniture had a life with us even before its time, and together with local artisans, we adapted it to modern needs. Every apartment has become unique.

Is there a typical day?

Everyday life happens alongside. With us, a typical day begins with saying goodbye to our beloved guests and preparing for a new visit. And when it works out, we jump briefly at noon in the summer to the Traun, just a minute away, to freshen up.

Something that we are pleased about

A sentence that, to our delight, we hear particularly often: "You have thought of everything!". We wanted to create something where you feel at home. Whether it's an umbrella, an open bookcase, borrowing travel guides or self-sewn shopping bags, a bicycle garage, the Sonnentor tea bar, or directly traded coffee - in our opinion, it is often the details that count.

Because we have lived here for so long, we are delighted to advise you on insider tips for discovering the region. We are happy to recommend, for example, the 7-Seen-Blick tour on the Katrin with a cable car ride or the historic pilgrimage route on Lake Wolfgang by bus and boat. There is so much to find out that the decision is often challenging. The best moment for us is when our guests come back happy in the evening and say that it was the best day of their vacation

Three words that describe me

Commitment, attention to detail, friendliness.

What is this city like for me?

Bad Ischl is an imperial city - but so much more too! The jewel in the Salzkammergut is the European Capital of Culture in 2024, but there are already multiple offers for all age groups, whether culture, nature, or adventure. One can easily explore the imperial villa and the city's center on foot; for example, the congress and theater building is only 350 m away. So our apartments are the perfect starting point for travelers to the Salzkammergut - in every season of the year.

My tip for our region

Make car-free day trips to Hallstatt by train or Lake Wolfgang by bus or bike. There are many ways to enjoy the region car-free - we'll be happy to tell you how!

Classics in Bad Ischl: a visit to the operetta, the dreamy brine thermal bath, the Kaiservilla, or the Grand Café Zauner in the emperor's footsteps.

My favorite restaurant in Bad Ischl

I highly recommend a brunch in the nearby Café Immervoll with directly traded coffee, dream food with a view, and a clear conscience on the Siriuskogl.
