Gobi Drab - Music meets Yoga
I know Gobi from my training as a yoga teacher. Well, you can conclude that maybe she also teaches yoga. But you will meet Gobi in quite different places in Vienna, Austria and also worldwide, because Gobi is also a musician and concert organizer. And now she tells you more about herself.
Your name: Gobi Drab
(ok, actually Gabriele, but I have been a Gobi for years)
I am a recorder player and especially in contemporary music. On my website gobidrab.at you can see all upcoming events. I also teach recorder in a music school.
Where were you born?
I was born in Upper Austria and then, like so many, came to Vienna to study and also loved to stay here!
What is so special about your work? What do you like about it? How did you get the idea doing this?
I enjoy the variety of being a musician myself, curating and organizing, and teaching music and yoga. I never get bored.
How did that happen? The facets of my professional activity have grown very organically. It would not have been possible to plan this.
Do you have a typical day?
There is a certain everyday life in the school, there is the fixed point of yoga every day. Otherwise the upcoming projects provide the structure. Be it to work together with composers and musicians for their own artistic project, to practice compositions, to rehearse, to take care of the concert series New Music in St. Ruprecht ... It remains varied!
3 words that describe me
curious, humorous, creative
Why I like living in Vienna ...
I simply feel good here.
What do you like about the city?
I like the feeling of living in a city with all its amenities, but still has a quite manageable size.
Gobi's tips for Vienna
My personal Vienna tip …
Sitting in the cafe and watching people. There is always something to see.
My favourite place in Vienna …
There are so many ... My university was mostly in the third district and I spent many lunch breaks in the Belvedere Garden with a view of the upper Belvedere. I still like to do that when I'm in the area.
My favourite restaurant in Vienna …
There are also a lot. For example, the Augustin in the Märzstraße. The garden in summer is wonderful. And there are 2 cats on site. With a bit of luck they can be caressed
